Joel Vaughn begins
his seventh season as a head baseball coach.
Coach Vaughn spent the last six years as the Head Baseball Coach at
Barnwell High School in Barnwell, S.C.
During his tenure in Barnwell, Vaughn amassed an overall record of
93-63. He won 4 Region V-AA
Championships and 3 District V-AA Championships during that six year
period. Vaughn was named Region Coach
of the Year in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009.
Vaughn’s overall region record during that period was 52-12. Coach Vaughn also served as assistant head
coach of the Orangeburg American Legion team in 2007. Coach Vaughn is a
graduate of Emerald High School where he played for Coach Chad Evans. Joel also played American Legion Baseball
for Post 20 while in high school.
Vaughn continued his education at Lander University where he played
his freshman year for Coach Rusty Stroupe. During his junior and senior years at
Lander, Vaughn assisted Coach Evans with the Emerald Viking baseball
program. Vaughn teaches social studies
at Brewer Middle School. He also holds
a master’s degree in educational administration from Grand Canyon University
in Phoenix, Arizona. Vaughn is married
to the former Bain Wrenn of Hilton Head Island and
they have two boys, Wylder Ryan age 3 and Bowers
Reece “Bo” age 1. Coach Vaughn prides
himself in developing relationships with his players that will extend well
past the days on the diamond. Several
of his former players are now at the collegiate level and one former player
is already a high school head baseball coach.
Vaughn’s primary objective for the Eagle program will be to develop
the players physically and mentally through conditioning and drills that will
prepare them to compete on a state level.
“I want the players to understand that we are investing in them and
for success to come, each player has to buy-in to our program and accept the
discipline it takes to become winners.” |
