SUMMARY: Provides students
enrolled in the career and technology education program with education and
training of sufficient excellence to enable them upon graduation to enter the
job market with well-developed skills, varied intellectual interests and
sufficient understanding and curiosity to continue their growth and maturation
as workers and as individuals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.

Helps
to administer a comprehensive Career and Technology Education (CATE) program.
·
Maintains
a close working relationship with Greenwood School District 51 and Greenwood
School District 52.
·
Maintains
a close working relationship with community and state agencies, area industries
and businesses in order to provide training that is consistent with the needs
of our community.
·
Maintains
current knowledge of all rules and regulations affecting career and technology
education.
·
Advises
and assists in obtaining state and federal funds for career, technology, and
technical education programs.
·
Assists
with the responsibility for the collections, review and submission of all forms
and reports relative to career and technology education to state agencies.
·
Helps
to coordinate the gathering, selecting, and analysis of data with respect to
jobs available to local high school graduates.
·
Assists
with the coordination of all cooperative programs in the schools.
·
Helps
to interpret the CATE program to the public.
·
Assists
with arranging and directing inservice education for the staff.
·
Makes
recommendations to the Director for long-term adjustments, changes, additions,
and deletions in the CATE program to meet changing job trends and needs.
·
Assists
in the recruitment and screening of CATE teachers.
·
Attends
and participates in the affairs of professional societies devoted to the
advancement of CATE.
SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
·
Manages
employees in the school when the principal is absent.
·
Responsible
for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the school in the
principal’s absence.
·
Carries
out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies
and applicable laws. Responsibilities
include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and
directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees;
addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION
REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE:
S.C. Certificate in
school administration; Master’s Degree or higher, and a minimum of 5 years teaching
experience; CATE teaching experience preferred
LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read and
interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical
procedures or governmental regulations.
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to
prescribed style and format. Ability to
respond to common inquired or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or
members of the business community. Ability
to effectively present information to administrators, top management, public
groups/community, and Board of Education.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Ability to work with
mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and
fundamentals of plain and solid geometry and trigonometry.
REASONING
ABILITY:
Ability to define
problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
OTHER
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to apply
knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to develop
effective working relationships with the community, staff and students. Ability
to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of
all district requirements and the Board of Education policies.
