Position Description

 

 

 

Position Title:   Director of Business Operations

Department:      Business

Reports To:      Assistant Superintendent, Business

 

 

 

SUMMARY:  Administers business operations and services including accounting, inventory, payroll and purchasing.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Other duties may be assigned.

·        Secures price quotes and prepares bid invitations

·        Supervises district Stores warehouse

·        Advises administration on purchasing policies

·        Maintains fixed asset records

·        Prepares district maintenance contracts

·        Supervises all district purchase orders

·        Supervises district courier

·        Supervises the areas of accounts payable, bookkeeping, auditing, and payroll

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages Business Department.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include supervising and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of three years administrative experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to create reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Computer mainframe and spreadsheet experience.  Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.  Ability to establish working relationships with employees and the public.  Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.  Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
