Position Description
POSITION TITLE:
Reports To: Superintendent
SUMMARY: Uses
leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to manage the G. Frank Russell
Career Center and has the ability to promote the educational development of
each student.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

Develops
a network of business relationships that promotes career awareness and marketable
skills among the students at the
·
Develops
and implements a relevant curriculum that uses current technology and
instructional strategies which embrace Career and Technology Education.
·
Prepares
budget that supports curriculum and training essential to achieve the goals and
benchmarks for Career and Technology Education.
·
Provides
an effective staff development program for Career and Technology Education and
participates in professional growth activities.
·
Creates
awareness of Career and Technology education within the general service area.
·
Recruits
quality educators and students who embrace Career and Technology Education.
·
Establishes
a structure that provides opportunities leading to student success in Career
and Technology Education.
·
Secures
and effectively utilizes world class technology.
·
Works
with various members of the central administrative staff on school problems
such as transportation and special services.
·
Interprets
and enforces district policies and administrative regulations.
·
Budgets
school time to provide for the efficient conduct of school instruction and
business.
·
Establishes
guides for proper student conduct and maintaining student discipline.
·
Participates
professionally in the fair assessment of all staff personnel including recommending
according to established procedures the removal of any staff member whose work
is unsatisfactory. Delegates some of the
assessment responsibilities where there are a large number of employees.

Supervises
the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and nonacademic
purposes.
·
Prepares
or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other
paperwork required or appropriate to the school's administration and supervises
the maintenance of all required building records and reports.
·
Supervises
the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students.
·
Provides
for adequate inventories of property under his/her jurisdiction and for the
security and accountability for that property including textbooks.
·
Keeps
the superintendent informed of the school's activities and problems.
·
Acts
as liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and
policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life.
·
Participates
in principals' meetings and such other meetings as are required or appropriate
in the district and school.
·
Maintains
a close working relationship with Districts 51 and 52.
·
Establishes
and seeks input from advisory committees and for each program.
·
Performs
other duties within the scope and sequence of this job as assigned by the
Superintendent.
SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages employees in the school. Is responsible for the overall direction,
coordination, and evaluation of the school.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities
in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing,
hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work;
appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing
complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform

EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE:
Valid S.C. Vocational Center Director or
Secondary Principal's Certification, a
minimum of 5 years teaching experience, and proven ability to work in professional
and community activities.
LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret general
business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and
governmental regulations. Ability to
write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style
and format. Ability to respond to common
inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the
business community. Ability to
effectively present information to administrators, top management, public
groups/community, and Board of Education.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical
concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of
plain and solid geometry and trigonometry.
REASONING
ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collects
data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions.
OTHER
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research
and theory in specific field. Ability to develop effective working
relationships with the community, staff and students. Ability to communicate
clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of
all district requirements and the Board of Education policies.
