Position Description

 

 

POSITION TITLE:    Community Services Facilitator

 

            Department:  Administration

            Reports To:    Superintendent 

           

            SUMMARY:  Reports directly to the superintendent and facilitates within the district internal and external communications to enhance knowledge and understanding of programs offered.  Supports special activities and events within the district and serves as a liaison to the community at-large.

 

            ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

 

DUTIES:

  • Coordinate the volunteer program
  • Serve as district spokesperson
  • Work with the business community to develop partnerships
  • Schedule retiree reception
  • Provide website updates
  • Plan and direct opening of school activities
  • Handle Gold Card distribution
  • Plan New Teacher Welcome

§         Assist with the planning of the Student Engagement Conference

  • Keep inclement weather plan updated
  • Coordinate Teacher of the Year competition
  • Help plan and produce the State of the District address
  • Coordinate the United Way Campaign and schedule United Way Luncheon
  • Coordinate American Education Week events
  • Coordinate Board Appreciation Week activities
  • Order and distribute service pins and employee recognitions
  • Help plan Literacy Alive Celebration
  • Schedule Board recognitions
  • Schedule Legislative Delegation Breakfast
  • Handle media requests, press releases and work with local and state medial outlets
  • Contact local media and update website in times of school closings/delays
  • Plan and Coordinate Administrative Professionals Workshop
  • Plan Teacher of the Year Luncheon
  • Attend Board meetings and cover public forum registration
  • Produce the Board Bulletin
  • Produce PowerPoint and video presentations
  • Attend WPEC PIO meetings
  • Responsible for postage machine (maintenance, ordering supplies and postage)
  • Responsible for district office copiers (maintenance, reporting counts monthly to company representative)
  • Create handouts, brochures and other publications on district programs
  • Photograph district events
  • Maintain royalty free music catalog for district use
  • Compile report card data for publication in local paper as mandated by state law
  • Update district information on state department website
  • Create InTouch calling messages for district
  • Work with Chamber and Partnership Alliance to compile info/pictures on the district for their needs
  • Advise principals on PR practices
  • Provide workshops for teachers and school staff to increase positive communication
  • Write report card narrative for distribution in School Report Cards
  • District contact for School Improvement Council

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field;

·        Effective interpersonal skills;

·        Experience in public relations, public education, communications, or related fields;

·        Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of communications, including media relations, effective public speaking, publications design, digital photography and Web services;

·        Demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse populations;

·        Demonstrated ability to organize programs from conception to completion; and

·        Experience in organizing and leading group meetings.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, procedure manuals and business correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plain and solid geometry and trigonometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram forms and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.  Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of Education policies.
