POSITION TITLE: ETV Coordinator

SUMMARY: Provides instructional television and radio
resources and services to the District.
Performs duties so students, teachers, and administrators will receive
quality benefits of electronic media for learning opportunities. Also provides services to support the
District's computing and video services.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned.
Video Services:
Þ Follows
all rules and regulations as set forth by District policy and the Federal
Communications Commission.
Þ Evaluates
and upgrades the ETV system that serves all schools.
Þ Provides
accountability to the ETV network and to the District for all equipment and
supplies by maintaining a comprehensive inventory of equipment.
Þ Acts
as a liaison between the District, the ETV network, the State Department of
Education's Instructional Technology Office, and the local cable television
company (when appropriate).
Þ Supervises
the operation of the taping center and the distribution of programs to
schools. Plans and publishes schedules
of channels originated at the taping center.
Þ Assesses
needs, plans budgets, and secures bids for ETV Center purchases.
Þ Conducts
workshops for teachers and administrators to promote proper use of equipment
and resources.
Þ Maintains
skills and knowledge through regular training and conference attendance.
Þ Responds
to all requests for service. Conducts
routine inspections of each school's system, providing maintenance when needed.
Þ Receives
and processes requests for taping, editing, and transmitting programs.
Þ Assists
schools in ordering appropriate and compatible video equipment (television,
VCR's, etc.) from State contract.
Þ Assesses,
plans, and installs all ETV cables, antennae, satellite dishes, microwave
towers and antennae, etc. for ETV and District transmissions.
Þ Plans
for filming, recording, editing, and distribution of District-produced video.
Þ Secures
technical assistance and available equipment at no cost through the South
Carolina ETV Network. Maintains
positive relationships with area and State ETV and ITV personnel.
Computing Services:
Þ Assists
in the installation of network cable and connectors in all schools and District
offices.
Þ Sets
up hardware, installs software, and assists with the maintenance of all
computer systems within the District.
SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises and evaluates the ETV aide
responsible for daily recording and distribution of ETV programs.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job

EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma. Must have extensive
knowledge of video, audio recording equipment, and technical utilization of
instructional television and radio. Must possess mechanical and technical
ability to transmit television signals and maintain systems. Must be able to organize and produce
television programs and design and build distribution systems. FCC operator's
license, minimum of five years experience in radio and television and working
knowledge of computer software to be used for scheduling broadcasts of instructional
television programs.
LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as
safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group
situations to customers, clients, other employees, and/or students.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING
ABILITY:
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to develop effective working
relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate
clearly and concisely. Ability to
perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of
Education policies.

difference between bells, buzzers, beeps, etc.
