POSITION TITLE: Secretary - Elementary School
Reports To: Principal
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties
may be assigned.

Maintain
a daily record of all support staff and faculty absences.
Þ
Maintain
sign in/out books for support staff and faculty.
Þ
Keep
General Account ledger.
Þ
Reconcile
monthly bank statements/processes EOM reports for the activity accounts.
Þ
Deposit
funds daily.
Þ
Ensure
accuracy of teacher receipt books.
Þ
Sell
pencils, tablets, etc., and orders supplies as needed.
Þ
Receive,
document, deposit, disburse and account for all funds flowing through the
student activity fund accounts, except as otherwise directed by the principal.
Þ
Keep
records and file reports of all staff members.
Þ
Assist
with fire drills and with filing the monthly fire drill report.
Þ
Prepare
weekly payroll reports.
Þ
Open
and distribute mail daily.
Þ
Collect
and verify teacher receipts.
Þ
Responsible
for maintenance and technology help requests.
Þ
Verify
sign in and sign out report against AESOP or leave forms.
Þ
Collect
school fees.
Þ
Answer
the telephone.
Þ
Greet
the public.
Þ
Type
all schedules, etc.
Þ
Assist
with requisitions for supplies.
Þ
Enroll
new students.
Þ
Attend
to sick or hurt children in the absence of the school nurse and recommend dismissal
of children.
Þ
Fill
out and mail duplicated permanent records.
Þ
Keep
a record of all snack money for kindergarten.
Þ
Assist
the principal in carrying out duties customary to the administrative office.
Þ
Complete
Workers Compensation reports.
Þ
Maintain
OSHA log and materials.
SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises
students.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform

EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE:
High
School Diploma or GED. Must be able to effectively deal with the public and
staff both in person and on the phone. Must be able to handle large sums of money and
manage school accounts.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability
to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and
correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to
questions from groups of administrators, managers, employee’s, clients,
customers and/or the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability
to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common fractions and decimals. Strong bookkeeping skills are required.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability
to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
OTHER SKILLS and
ABILITIES:
Ability
to develop effective working relationships with staff, parents and students.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements
and the Board of Education policies.
