ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES.
Other duties may be assigned.

The front
office secretary receives visitors to the school and directs them to the proper
person and receives all telephone calls to the school, screens calls and takes
messages when necessary.
Þ
Distributes
daily mail from post office and district mail.
Þ
Supervises
student office workers.
Þ
Calls
students for grade principals and for Transportation Office.
Þ
Maintains
files for principal.
Þ
Schedules
appointments for the principal.
Þ
Responsible
for correspondence for principal.
Þ
Types
correspondence for assistant principals when requested.
Þ
Calls for
service on typewriters, duplicating machines, and copiers.
Þ
Keeps
current student file.
Þ
Types and
mails certain reports and papers.
Þ
Prepare
materials for teachers at opening of school year.
Þ
Compiles
materials for teachers' final clearance at the end of school year.
Þ
Checks out
teachers at end of school for final clearance.
Þ
Compiles
materials for principal's final check out with District Office.
Þ
Prepares
certain reports for the District Office and State Department of Education.
Þ
Makes
reservations for use of the school vans and auditorium.
Þ
Prepares
and submits the annual budget request.
Orders items approved on the annual budget, keeps a file on purchase
orders issues, checks in items received, and returns purchase orders to
District Office for payment.
Þ
Assists
with summer school - registration, keeps file on all summer school students,
sends information to other schools, prepares summer school reports for State
Department, sends grades to other schools.
Þ
Assists in
any other areas when necessary.
Þ
Distributes
keys and materials to substitute teachers.

Supervises students.

EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED. Must be able to
effectively deal with the public and staff both in person and on the phone.
Must pass district typing test.
LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as
safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively
present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators,
managers, employee, clients, customers and/or the general public.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING
ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish
facts, and draw valid conclusions.
OTHER
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to develop effective working
relationships with staff, parents and students. Ability to communicate clearly
and concisely. Ability to perform
duties with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of Education
policies.

to hear the difference between bells, buzzers, beeps, horns, etc. The employee
frequently communicates through speech. Occasionally this position requires
that the employee meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
