Greenwood School District 50 Position Description

 

Position Title:      Instructional Technology Coordinator

Department:      Instruction

Reports To:      Assistant Superintendent for Instruction

Collaborates

With:                Director of Computing Services

                        Director of Staff Development

 

SUMMARY: Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of training for staff in instructional technology and software applications.  Responsible for the verification of technology competence of all certified staff.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  (Other duties may be assigned.)

        

1.      Assist teachers in utilization of technology as a tool to support instruction.

2.      Develop standards-based lesson plans (modules) that model the use of computers, the Internet, CD-ROM resources, and other technologies to deliver instruction.

3.      Oversee the implementation of technology-based programs in all district schools.

4.      Plan and implement technology staff development activities for the schools as needed to master required competencies.

5.      Plan and implement a variety of school-based and district-wide staff development activities to facilitate use of the technology in classroom activities.

6.      Collaborate with principals to develop a site-based staff development plan to upgrade the technology skills of all staff.

7.      Work with the Office of Computing Services to implement the district’s technology plan.

8.      Organize an instructional technology advisory group (teachers) to help determine areas of need, strategies for meeting those needs, and develop action plans.

9.      Assist the Office of Computing Services with diagnostic and maintenance procedures for all technology applications in the district.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Certified as a professional educator by the South Carolina Department of Education with previous teaching experience.

Experience with personal computer applications.

Experience in the use of instructional software.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.  Ability to organize multistep procedures and to facilitate implementation of those procedures through others.  Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
