Position Description

 

POSITION TITLE:  Intervention Services Specialist

 

            Department:    School Based

            Reports To:     Principal

 

            TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  200 Days

           

SUMMARY: Coordinates and provides instructional support to teachers and students in the content areas of reading and math to assist all students with mastery of grade level academic standards.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Works with school staff to develop a plan for instructional strategies and interventions for all students. 
  • Assists teachers and administration with the analysis of data with regards to instructional decisions.
  • Provides oversight of classroom instructional practices
  • Selects interventions for students based on individual needs.
  • Works with school personnel to identify methods to enhance school and classroom atmosphere to provide a positive educational environment.
  • Serves as a liaison with parents regarding student achievement, intervention selection, and home assistance.  
  • Administers additional assessment components required to identify student needs.
  • Works with individual students or student groups to provide supplemental instructional support.
  • Provides technical assistance to interventionists and school staff.
  • Develops and facilitates staff development for interventionists and other school personnel.
  • Works with school staff to provide appropriate referrals for students and their families to special programs, services, and community agencies. 
  • Meets with parents, teachers, and administrators as needed to discuss student performance, activities, problems, etc.
  • Provides leadership in grade level professional learning community meetings.  
  • Participates in faculty and professional meetings and educational conferences.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Masters Degree with a minimum of five years teaching/administrative experience
  • Administrative Certification preferred

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of Education policies.

The employee must be able to hear the difference between bells, buzzers, beeps, horns, etc. The employee frequently communicates through speech.
