POSITION TITLE: Job Readiness Teacher

SUMMARY: Provides placement assistance to students
and graduates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned.

Assists
vocational program graduates in securing employment commensurate with the
skills and competencies of the graduates.
Þ
Assists
students in finding the best possible employment opportunities in regards to
working conditions, salary, fringe benefits and future employment.
Þ
Helps
secure part-time employment for those vocational students that deserve and
require such employment.
Þ
Develops
and implements an effective follow-up system on vocational graduates to provide
relevant data for utilization in determining program improvements and
adjustments.
Þ
Reports
placement data to the Office of Vocational Education.
Þ
Provides
continuous evaluation of the program to meet the needs of the students,
business and industry, and to develop good industrial/business relations in the
community.
Þ
Provides
feedback from business and industry to the Director of the Career Center for
use in the adjustment of program content to reflect employer needs.
Þ
Contacts
local business/industry to develop continuous communication with regard to
employment and training needs.
Þ
Assists the
instructors of the Career Center in developing a closer relationship with
industry.
Þ
Assists the
Director of the Career Center in developing a broader base of support from
surrounding communities and industries.
Þ
Provides
orientation to personnel directors, business leaders, and other interested
persons as to career and training opportunities available at the Career Center.
Þ
Establishes
effective relations and communications with local employment security
commission offices for employment opportunity identification of vocational
graduates.
Þ
Assists the
instructors and the Advisory Committees in the evaluation of training programs
in the Center and in industry, to provide better training and placement.
Þ
Assists in
coordination of Joint Advisory Committees.
Þ
Assists in
the development and implementation of recruitment activities.
Þ
Coordinates
public relations and public information activities.
Þ
Assists
instructors in developing and improving vocational your organization
activities.
Þ
Conducts an
annual assessment of the placement program in terms of the vocational program
standards and the objectives in the school's current three-year plan.
Þ
Assists
with registration and provides course information to students, teachers,
counselors, and administrators.
Þ
Assists in
audio-visual checkouts.
Þ
Keeps
abreast of new developments in Occupational Education through participation in
professional organizational activities, workshops, and seminars.
SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises students.

EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE:
SC Certification in Vocational Area.
LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general
business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or
governmental regulations. Ability to
write speeches and articles for publication in a variety of formats or
styles. Ability to effectively present
information to administrators, top management, public groups/community, and
Board of Education.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in
all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING
ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data,
establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
OTHER
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to develop effective working
relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to communicate
clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district
requirements and the Board of Education policies.
