POSITION TITLE: Program
Coordinator/Learning Initiatives
Department: Instruction
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent for Instruction
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: Other
duties may be assigned.
·
Collaborates
with district staff to develop a variety of learning options for middle and
high school students.
·
Collaborates
with the Director of Southside Learning Center to oversee all aspects of the
middle school program (intake, schedule development, case management services,
home school contacts, IEP meetings, instructional delivery, and behavior
modification/physical training component).
·
Develops
a re-entry (transition) support system for middle and high school students who
are returning to their home schools.
This system will include required activities/school-based support
services to be provided by staff (guidance, case managers, administrators) in
ensuring that all returning students receive the support needed to be
successful.
·
Maintains
appropriate records and data to evaluate programs.
These
support services will include:
·
conferring with guidance staff.
·
assisting counselors with the registration process
and the requirements of the EEDA.
·
meetings with students on a regular basis.
·
communicating with parents.
·
documenting all services provided.

EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE:
Masters Degree with intensive course work and/or
experience in teaching, evaluation/testing, and educational research or
administration. Three years successful
experience in public school work, either as a teacher or in research, guidance,
testing, or administration. Must be able to effectively deal with the public
and staff both in person and on the phone.
LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common
scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond
to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or
members of the business community.
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication in a variety of
formats or styles. Ability to
effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards
of directors.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions,
percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING
ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect
data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of
technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several
abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES,
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid SC teaching certificate with
administration/supervision certification. Ability to develop effective working relationships
with staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and
concisely. Ability to perform duties
with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of Education
policies.
