POSITION TITLE: District Receptionist

SUMMARY: Operates a multi-line switchboard to direct
incoming calls and assists visitors to the District Office.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned.
Þ Staffs
district switchboard and reception area.
Answers and forwards calls to proper areas. Takes and relays messages when necessary.
Þ Greets
visitors, gives directions to offices and helps them in any way possible.
Þ Gives
applications for employment, NTE, etc.
Þ Mails
application packages.
Þ Stuffs,
folds, separates, counts, labels and prepares bulk mailings.

EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or G.E.D. Must be able to
effectively deal with the public both in person and on the phone.
LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple
instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple
correspondence. Ability to speak effectively
with other employees, the general public and students.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Ability to apply basic arithmetic calculations
using units of American money, weight measurements, volume and distance.
REASONING
ABILITY:
Ability to deal with problems involving a
variety of concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to pass a District typing test. Ability to develop effective working
relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate
clearly and concisely. Ability to
perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of
Education policies.

vision. Employee must be able to distinguish the difference between bells,
buzzers, beeps, etc.
