JOB
PURPOSE: To teach the Manufacturing Certification
Course. To assist the school system’s
school-to-work transition teacher and high school counselors in the process of
career development for students and assist in the coordination of
school-to-work activities.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
·
Participates
in staff development to prepare to teach Manufacturing Certification. The Manufacturing Certification courses will
include topics such as workplace ethics, interpersonal skills, team building,
measuring instruments, total quality transformation, statistical process
control, industrial safety, industrial economics, materials management, and
plant tours.
·
Work with
the school-to-work transition teacher to coordinate all work-based and
school-based learning activities such as apprenticeships, mentoring, shadowing,
internships, service learning, cooperative education, etc.
·
Assist the
school-to-work transition teacher and guidance counselors in organizing career
fairs with employers and other appropriate groups for students and parents.
·
Serve as a
resource person for parents, students, counselors, and teachers for
school-to-work events and projects.
·
Assist the
school-to-work transition teacher and counselors in developing and distributing
career information to parents and other appropriate target groups.
·
Drive
activity buses for school-to-work field trips when needed.
·
Assist the
school-to-work transition teacher in the preparation of school-to-work reports.
·
Assist in
the development of specialized programs to enhance career education activities.
·
Maintain a
collection of career materials.
·
Assist
staff with methods of accessing resource collections, SCOIS, and other career
information.

QUALIFICATION

EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE:
Secondary Teaching Certificate and South
Carolina Bus Driver’s License.
LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general
business periodicals, professional journals, technical instructions and
procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, procedure manuals and business
correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from
customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such
as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plain and solid
geometry and trigonometry.
REASONING
ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data,
establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
OTHER
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to develop effective working
relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and
concisely, both orally and in writing.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements
and the Board of Education policies.

be able to push items of 50 lbs. Such as pushing children on a bike or
moving/rearranging furniture. Specific
vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and
peripheral vision.
