SUMMARY: Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of
training for staff in instructional technology and software applications,
emphasizing the planning and delivery of instruction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.
1. Assist teachers in utilization of technology as a tool to support instruction.
2. Develop standards-based lesson plans (modules) that model the use of computers, the Internet, CD-ROM resources, and other technologies to deliver instruction.
3. Plan and implement staff development activities for the school-based Instructional Specialists.
4. Plan and implement a variety of school-based and district-wide staff development activities to facilitate use of the technology in classroom activities.
5. Collaborate with principals to develop a site-based staff development plan to upgrade the technology skills of all staff.
6. Organize an instructional technology advisory group (teachers) to help determine areas of need, strategies for meeting those needs, and develop action plans.
7. Assist the Office of Computing Services with diagnostic and maintenance procedures for all technology applications in the district.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Masters’ Degree in instructional
technology or related area preferred.
Bachelor's Degree and previous
teaching experience.
Experience
with personal computer applications.
Experience in
the use of instructional software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional
journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports,
business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively
present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators and
the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to
work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference,
and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to
apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to
practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
conclusions. Ability
to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or
diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to
apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written
communication. Ability
to organize multistep procedures and to facilitate
implementation of those procedures through others. Ability to perform duties
with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
