POSITION TITLE: Secretary II - Title I

SUMMARY:
Provides quality support for the Title I program and assists and
relieves the Title I Coordinator of paper work and impediments so that maximum
attention may be devoted to central problems of education and educational
administration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:

and works with the Title I Coordinator.

Types for
and works with the Director of Elementary Education in matters directly related
to the administration of the Title I program.
Þ
Transcribes
various correspondence, reports, notices and recommendations related to the
Title I program.
Þ
Duplicates/photocopies
Title I forms, reports and other documents.
Þ
Maintains a
regular filing system, as well as any confidential files, and processes
incoming correspondence or other data as instructed.
Þ
Places and
receives telephone calls and records messages.
Þ
Maintains a
schedule of appointments and makes arrangements for conferences and interviews.
Þ
Welcomes
visitors and arranges for their comfort.
Þ
Performs
bookkeeping tasks associated with the Title I program.
Þ
Orders
office and teaching supplies, instructional materials and equipment as needed
by the Title I staff.
Þ
Receives,
verifies, stamps and distributes incoming shipments of office supplies,
instructional materials and equipment.
Þ
Maintains
inventory of office and teaching supplies, instructional materials, and
equipment.
Þ
Assists in
organizing data (testing results, other pertinent student information) needed
for Title I selection process.
Þ
Assists in
organizing and verifying date (teaching results, teacher referrals, eligibility
status, assigned teachers, etc.) needed to maintain and update all records
regarding students served in the Title I program.

Notifies
appropriate school personnel concerning approval status of referrals for the
Title I program.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job

EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED and 4 years
experience; or AA degree in secretarial science and one year experience; or BS
degree in business education or secretarial science. Must be able to
effectively deal with the public and staff both in person and on the phone.
LANGUAGE
SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general
business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or
governmental regulations. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to
customers, clients, other employees and/or students.
MATHEMATICAL
SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as
discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area,
circumference, and volume.
REASONING
ABILITY:
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions
furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to develop effective working
relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to communicate
clearly and concisely. Ability to
perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and the Board of
Education policies.
