Position Description

Position Title:   Assistant Warehouse Manager/Courier

Department:    Purchasing

Reports To:     Director of Business Operations

                                   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.

 

·         Serve as courier both inside and outside the district;

·         Serve as courier to the Board of Trustees;

·         Supervise summer work crews and perform some maintenance duties;

·         Assist in maintaining, distributing, and delivering warehouse supplies and equipment;

·         Deliver district inter-department mail;

·         Distribute and process all postal mail;

·         Assist with set-up preparation for meetings within the district;

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise summer work crews as needed.

LICENSE REQUIRMENTS:

Valid South Carolina Driver License with clean driving record required.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Associate degree in Business Administration or related area as well as related experience is preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.   Good communication and interpersonal skills are required.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discount interest, proportions and percentages.  Ability to utilize computer spreadsheet software.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Ability to identify strategies to improve efficiency of operation.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:   Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the community.  Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

 

Employs proper safety devices to include steel-toe shoes, back brace, and safety glasses.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and sometimes hot temperatures when working outside.
