Becoming a Substitute

At Greenwood School District 50

 

          Thank you for your interest in substituting for Greenwood School District 50.  We offer substitute teaching, teaching assistant, cafeteria, and janitorial positions.

 

Prospective substitutes may obtain a substitute packet from the Greenwood School District 50 office located at 1855 Calhoun Rd.  The packet contains a portion of the forms required for hiring and includes a TB (Tuberculosis) skin test form, Application for Employment, and I-9 form. 

 

The candidate must obtain a TB skin test or provide results up to 5 years back, provide evidence of Highest Level of Education (not required for cafeteria substitutes), complete the employment application, and have a valid driver’s license or other photo identification as well as either a social security card (required to participate in retirement), work authorization card, or birth certificate.

 

Once the candidate has obtained all of the required documents listed in the previous paragraph, they are then instructed to contact Human Resources for a processing appointment.  The processing requires additional forms to be completed to include Bloodborne Pathogens, South Carolina Retirement forms, W-4 tax withholding form, direct deposit, etc. 

 

The Human Resources Department will conduct a criminal background check (SLED) and a decision of employment will be made.  Prospective substitutes are asked not to contact schools directly.  Rather, their names will be placed on an approved list by the HR Dept. authorizing that individual to substitute.  Individuals will be notified in writing of a negative employment decision.

*Training Incentive- To qualify for the Schedule B pay rate a sub will have to complete a district provided orientation workshop*
