ArtsEdge
http://artsedge.kennedy-center.org/
ArtsEdge was created by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts (with additional support from the U.S. Department of Education).  The resources on this website support the place of arts education at the center of the curriculum through the creative and appropriate uses of technology. ArtsEdge helps educators to teach in, through, and about the arts.  The site provides a daily news update in the arts and education, standards-based curriculum relating the arts to all other disciplines, and a library of planning, research, and contact information for teachers.  ArtsEdge is also part of the MarcoPolo network of educational resources.

Middle School Zoning
http://www.gwd50.k12.sc.us/BRD-Zone/ZoningIndex-BRD.htm
The Greenwood School District 50 Board of Trustees received the middle school zoning proposal from the Zoning Task Force at its meeting November 18.  Zoning for the middle schools is required for the 2003-2004 school year because of the opening of Westview Middle School and the closing of Southside Middle School.  This website provides background information about the zoning process as well as maps of the proposed attendance zones.  Some of the maps may take a long time to load over standard modem lines.

Unsolved History
http://dsc.discovery.com/anthology/unsolvedhistory/unsolvedhistory.html
If you like CSI or The New Detectives, you’ll really like Unsolved History.  This website is an important part of the new Discovery Channel program, which begins a new season this week.  Unsolved History – the TV program – uses forensics science, including DNA testing and other new technologies, to find out what really happened in history.  This website provides additional resources and links to related history and forensic tools.  The website lists the subjects of upcoming shows, provides some background information, and follows up with findings.  The show and the website offer interesting and entertaining looks at specific historical events and people – giving insight into the settings and situations in which they happened.  The TV show airs on Wednesdays at 9:00 pm.

Assessment and Achievement
http://www.eschoolnews.com/features/nclb/index.cfm
Under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, millions of students in grades three through eight will be required to take annual tests in reading and math, with their scores affecting for the first time how federal aid to their schools is allocated and spent.  NCLB has moved accountability – and the measurement and documentation of student performance – to the top of every educator’s agenda.  eSchool News has assembled a set of resources to help educators, parents, and communities in this effort.  The site has articles and links to resources that show what individual states are doing, the impact of NCLB on the need for technology and data, and the changing impact of high-stakes testing.  Educators will find proven strategies to boost test scores and articles about current trends and changes in assessment and achievement, as well as a links library containing sites with quality assessment and achievement content.
