Connecting the Projector
to the Laptop for Presentations ·
Preparing the laptop o
For displaying lessons with text it is best to set your laptop’s
screen resolution to 800x600 or 1024x768 (number of pixels across and down) o
Click Start/Control Panel to change your screen resolution o
In Control Panel, click Display o
Click the Settings tab and then choose the screen resolution you want ·
Connect the video cable to the projector and then to the monitor port
on the laptop ·
Turn on the projector to check for an image on the wall screen o
If no image displays, hold down the Fn key and press the F3 or F4 key
on the laptop keyboard (check F3 and F4 to see which one is for selecting
your display – you’ll see little images of computer screens on the right key) o
Wait a few seconds to see if the image appears on the wall screen o
If no image appears, hold down the Fn key and press the F3 or F4 key
again; do this until you have an image on the wall screen o
If you also want the image on the laptop screen, you’ll need to press
the Fn+F3 or Fn+F4 combination until you get what you want (be sure to wait a
few seconds between attempts) o
The laptop will, typically have four possible settings for display
when using a projector: (1) computer
screen on – projector screen off; (2) computer screen off – projector screen
on; (3) both screens off; and (4) both screens on. To choose one of those combinations, press Fn+F3 or Fn+F4 until you see the combination you want. ·
Adjust the focus, as needed ·
When you have finished the presentation, be sure to press the
appropriate button to shutdown the projector; a fan will continue to run as
the bulb cools down. Appropriate
cooling of the bulb is important – it will double the live of the bulb (and
each bulb costs about $275.00).
Note: The Mitsubishi projector
has a battery-powered fan that will continue to run even if you unplug the
projector. This feature extends the
life of the bulb; please do not do anything to prevent proper cooling. |
