Important Teacher Notes

·   Projector Bulb Lifespan:
To extend the lifespan of your projector bulbs, remember to shut the projector down when it is not in use.  After using the projector, do not move it until the bulb has enough time to cool down.

·   Emails within the District:
What do you do when you don’t recognize the sender of an email?  We are all so conscious of avoiding virus infected emails that we sometimes delete important email.  In your Groupwise Mailbox under the “From” column, you can observe a pattern.  Emails from within District 50 contain the name only.  Emails from outside of the District include the email address in the “From” column.  Be sure to read the email from within the District so you won’t miss important information!

High Court: Don’t Delete that eMail!

New rules make eMail subject to legal review

According to a report in eSchool News Online (http://www.eschoolnews.com/news/showStory.cfm?ArticleID=6748), “the new rules, which went into effect Dec. 1, [state that] schools, businesses, and other organizations are required to keep tabs on all eMail, instant messages (IM), and other digital communications produced by their employees.”  The ruling is not to scrutinize employee communication; instead, it is to convey the importance of preserving electronic communications “with the same care and diligence as other business-related documents” in case “any entity involved in litigation must…produce ‘electronically stored information’ during the discovery process, in which opposing sides of a legal dispute must share evidence before trial.”  As the article states, “employees should expect limited privacy when using school-owned technology.”

Greenwood School District 50 will provide employees with information on the kinds of information that can be deleted or must be saved.
