Protecting Your Inbox

3/15/07 We have recently put in place some new spam defenses for our email system. We hope that you are noticing a difference in the amount of “junk” email you receive. Most of our new defenses are automatic, but if you want to move up to a higher level of customizable protection, take a look at our documents for enhanced spam filtering at: http://www2.gwd50.org/ocsweb/SpamDefenses.htm

Technology Proficiency

By now, many of you have heard that eSchoolware, the creator of eProficiency, is no longer an operating organization.  Nevertheless, we are still held to the (SC) TEACHER TECHNOLOGY PROFICIENCY PROVISO GUIDANCE (Proviso 1.25), which states: “Districts must adopt teacher technology standards that are aligned with ISTE standards.”

This week, all certified personnel will receive, complete, and return a Level 1 technology proficiency assessment based on the eProficiency system. The results will be entered into a database where queries and reports will identify teachers with similar technology needs so that staff development opportunities and experiences can be planned to help teachers meet proficiency requirements.

In the next two weeks, all certified personnel will receive the Level 2 technology proficiency assessment to complete as before to help gather more information.  There is also a Level 3 survey that will be used after baseline data is compiled from the first two assessments.

In April, teachers will receive information on workshops and classes based on the results of the assessments.  These will be scheduled from June to December 2007.
