Technology Courses

9/15/09 Gary French is offering several technology courses in Greenville.  Registration is due three weeks before the class begins, but you can call or email Gary to see if space is available.  He is offering courses on using Promethean and SmartBoards (beginner and intermediate), as well as Word, PowerPoint, Internet, Excel, Web Design, Photo Shop, and Publisher.  These classes require only one face-to-face meeting and qualify for recertification credit.  For more information contact:

Important Teacher Notes

ŸTip: Excel Text Wrapping - When you need to record a lot of information into a single tiny cell, simply type all the required data, click Enter (or press Return), and click the cell again. Then go to Format > Cells > Alignment, choose Wrap Text, and OK.

·   Send PowerPoint Handout to Word

§    Open a presentation in PowerPoint.

§    Choose File > Send To > Microsoft Office Word.

§    In the Send to Microsoft Office Word dialog box, select the desired page layout for your presentation: Handouts: Choose either Blank Lines Next to Slides or Blank Lines Below Slides. Notes: Choose Notes Next to Slides or Notes Below Slides. Outline: Choose Outline only.

§    Click OK. Your chosen presentation information will appear as a new document in Word.

§    Edit, format, and print the information as desired.

 

Great Smokey Mountains

The Great Smokies are best known as the home of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which protects most of the range. The park was established in 1934, and with over 9 million visits per year, it is the most-visited national park in the United States.

Provides support and information for researchers at all levels who study the Smokies and the surrounding communities.

Contains information on various landforms (waterfalls, peaks, balds, rock formations) in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee and North Carolina. Information on each landform includes maps, GPS waypoint (latitude/longitude), and the occasional picture.

A database of coursework, guides, and primary-source documents on topics in American history, History Matters was produced by two academic programs at the City University of New York and George Mason University. The site is most useful for history teachers and students, and educators can use it as a professional-development resource.
